Api Koroisau was born and raised in Sydney, the Fijian-born Koroisau is a native of Australia. Before signing with South Sydney Rabbitohs, he played junior football for Berala Bears.


During the 2011 and 2012 seasons, api koroisau played for the Rabbitohs NYC squad. From 2012 to 2013, Koroisau played for the North Sydney Bears, a South Sydney N.S.W. Cup team, making 25 appearances and scoring six tries.

The Penrith Nines squad for the 2015 Auckland Nines was named on 24 January 2015. The 2015 Melanesian Cup was played on 2 May 2015 between Fiji and Papua New Guinea. Upon being released from his contract with Penrith in the final year of his deal, he signed a three-year deal with Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles starting in 2016. A total of 16 matches were played, with a try and four goals scored. This was his only season with the Panthers.


At Brookvale Oval on Saturday, Koroisau made his Manly-Warringah club debut in Round 1 of the 2016 NRL season, starting at hooker in the Sea Eagles' 8-26 loss to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. In Round 2 at Leichhardt Oval, when the Sea Eagles lost 22-36 to the Wests Tigers, he was dropped to New South Wales Cup in favor of Matt Parcell.


Manly's Koroisau played 23 games, scored three tries, and kicked one goal in the 2017 NRL season. PNG Football Stadium in the 48-8 win against Papua New Guinea, he was a member of the Prime Minister's XIII. During the 2017 Rugby League World Cup campaign, Koroisau was a member of the Fijian 24-man squad. He scored 13 goals during his five appearances.


During a disastrous season on and off the field, Koroisau made 13 appearances for Manly as the club narrowly escaped the wooden spoon by two competition points.


Following his release by Manly in February 2019, Koroisau signed a three-year contract with Penrith Panthers that begins in 2020 and ends at the end of 2022. Koroisau had become less of a starter due to Manase Fainu's excellent combination with Tom Trbojevic.


During the 2020 NRL season, Koroisau appeared in 20 games for the Penrith Panthers, which finished as Minor Premiers. The 2020 NRL Grand Final at ANZ Stadium saw Penrith lose 26-20 to Melbourne.


He played a key role in Penrith's flying start in the 2021 NRL season, maintaining his good form. The NSW Blues State of Origin team for the 2021 series recognized his form when it selected him as the 18th man.
